Hi, I’m Tonile!

Welcome to My Cup and Chaucer.

I’m so glad you have found my little corner of the internet. I live and breathe books, and this blog is where I post about exciting new releases along with reviews of what I’ve been reading and loving lately. There’s lots of tea and wine and I also write about other things I love slightly less than books, such as planning and organisation, budgeting, skincare, and blogging.

To me, My Cup and Chaucer looks at everything to do with living a happy and healthy bookish existence.

Without trying to read all the books, modern life is already busy enough. We spend a lot of time feeling overwhelmed and like we’re barely keeping up, rather than feeling like we’re in control of our time and our lives. Finding time to read can be hard, but finding books to read can be even harder; there are so many books published each month and try as we might it’s simply not possible to read them all.

If you want to better prioritise your time so you can read more and discover new books each month, then this blog is for you. This blog exists to help connect overwhelmed readers with brilliant books, to help reduce searching time and increase reading time, and to help you get lost in a good book once again.

Who am I?

I’m Tonile. I’m 29 and I live in Sydney, Australia. After spending three years managing the social media accounts, blog, podcast, and overall online community for Dymocks, I’ve returned to the dark side (i.e. publishing) as a product executive on the incredible Little, Brown list at Hachette. In my spare time, I try to read my way through a seemingly endless pile of books. I know first-hand what it feels like to be overwhelmed with the sheer number of books available on any given day, and I’m passionate about helping people prioritise their time and find books to fall in love with.

I have been in the bookselling and publishing industry for nearly ten years and while I’m currently not working in editorial, I am a trained and qualified proofreader and editor. I believe that words, in the right order, can have the power to change lives and I’m so lucky to work with books and words and readers every day.

What can I do for you?

Beyond a two-year jaunt with the Queensland Government, I’ve spent the best part of a decade working in bookselling and publishing. I’m a self-taught social media professional and my bookselling and publishing experience coupled with my digital marketing skills make me a great person to work with if you’re looking to break into the industry, wanting editorial support for your manuscript, or needing a social media strategy to amplify your reach and engagement. Oh, and I was also a pretty decent podcast host so I can help you in that area as well.

I have a variety of services currently on offer that can be tailored and packaged together to suit your needs, so please check out my work with me page or my LinkedIn profile and see if we’d be a good fit to work together!

Where to now?

If you have any questions, smoothie recipes, dumpling restaurant suggestions, or you just want to wax lyrical about books, find me on Twitter or email me: hello(at)mycupandchaucer(dot)com. You can find my review policy here, and my disclaimer here.

So, welcome. I’m glad you found My Cup and Chaucer, and I hope you are too.
